In February 1954 London County Council had proposed to build a new town with a population of 40,000 in the New Forest, near Ringwood. This scheme was considered by the Ringwood & Fordingbridge Rural District Council at a meeting on Wednesday 10th February that year.

This talk is a little known story of just how close Ringwood came to being the site for a new town, which would have changed the surrounding area for ever. How did that arise – what was planned – and how was it stopped?

This talk will take place in the Ann Rose Hall, Greyfriars Community Centre, 44 Christchurch Road, Ringwood at 7.30pm on 2nd April 2025

Tickets are available online through Ticketsource here, free for members of The Ringwood Society, £6 for non members.
