We have an interesting and varied events schedule each year, which we hope members and members of the public alike will enjoy.
We hold an Annual General Meeting in the spring, an Open Meeting in the autumn, talks (usually given by a guest speaker), and a social event such as a town walk every year.
Members get free entry to all our talks.

24th March 2025 7.30pm Annual General Meeting, Ebenezer Hall, Greyfriars Community Centre, 44 Christchurch Road, Ringwood
2nd April 2025 7.30pm Ringwood New Town – Talk by Ken Chatfield on 1954 proposals for new town west of Ringwood, Ann Rose Hall, Greyfriars Community Centre, 44 Christchurch Road, Ringwood
In February 1954 London County Council had proposed to build a new town with a population of 40,000 in the New Forest, near Ringwood. This scheme was considered by the Ringwood & Fordingbridge Rural District Council at a meeting on Wednesday 10th February that year.
This talk is a little known story of just how close Ringwood came to being the site for a new town, which would have changed the surrounding area for ever. How did that arise – what was planned – and how was it stopped?
Tickets priced £6 are available online through Ticketsource here.
24th April 2025 10.30am Visit to Longford Castle, Wiltshire
The Ringwood Society is delighted to have secured a rarely available special interest tour of Longford Castle. This visit will be of particular interest to members also interested in the Castle’s fine art collection. A concise guidebook is included.
Situated within beautiful gardens on the banks of the River Avon, near Salisbury, Longford Castle has been home to the Earls of Radnor for generations.
The Elizabethan castle houses an exceptional art collection, including paintings by Van Dyck, Claude, Teniers, Hals, Reynolds, and Gainsborough, as well as Oriental porcelain, Brussels tapestries, and 18th-century English and continental furniture.
