From Time to Time
Introduction
How has our town has evolved?
Over many years, rich layers have combined to give us the Ringwood we know today. Often buildings and spaces are changed in subtle ways that can be difficult to recognise. Shopfronts inserted, pavements widened, trees planted, whole buildings re-fronted or replaced.
Since its invention in 1826, and subsequent popularisation throughout the 19th century, photography has enabled us to capture the ways our towns change.
Reflecting on the successes and failures of developments informs our community’s attitude to future change.
The Ringwood Society has collaborated with Ringwood Camera Club. Drawing on our historic image library & their photographic expertise we have created a set of sliders that demonstrate the way our town has changed over the years.
Simply drag the handle on each image to compare the now and then images.
